How We Help Children in Southeastern India
Help Children India works in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in India, where we provide a safe home, quality education, and daily provision for children in need. If you have ever wanted to help children in a foreign country in a way that is grounded in long-term relationships, this is the work that will make a lasting difference.

Our children's home campus in southeastern India
Our support for these children includes three prongs:
1. A children's home for boys and girls who are either true orphans, semi-orphans, or who come from unstable or unsafe conditions.
2. Our newly established, government-accredited school designed to replace underfunded public school options and to teach primarily in English, giving the children in our care opportunities they would not otherwise have. These kids, without the stability of our home, would likely not be attending school at all.
3. Outreach to nearby slum areas, where we provide meals and informal education support to the children in need within these communities. The three parts of our work with children are described more fully below.
All of this work is carried out through trusted local relationships and a desire to faithfully show the love of Christ in both word and action.
For These Children, A Different Path Begins
Many of the children who come into our care arrive from circumstances marked by hunger, instability, and fear. Their stories often begin in hardship — but by God’s grace, they do not end there.
The following are the actual words from a translated letter written by one of the children in our home:
Life was very difficult. There was never enough food. I had to sleep outside when the rainwaters came into my hut.
My father got drunk and beat me.
My mother died, and I went to live with my grandmother, but she couldn't take care of me very good.
I was weak because I didn't have enough food.
I didn't go to school.
I looked through the trash to find something of value.
But praise be to God!
I thank you for giving me this place to live.
Thank you to my sponsor. Thank you to all the supporters.
May God bless you because of your kindness. Because of your love.
What once was a life marked by a constant struggle to survive now points toward strength, opportunity, and a future.
Not every child has this exact story — but many are painfully similar.
Some children have lost both their parents and are true orphans. One child that came to us had parents who were fishermen, and both of them died at the same time when their boat capsized at sea. There are many other stories — each child has his or her own.
We care for children who come from various circumstances, but all of them are in need a loving home where they can thrive and where their lives can take a new, positive direction.
Today, children we receive live in a stable home, receive an education taught in English, and grow in daily prayer and instruction. They have teachers and Christian mentors in their lives — people who care and who are devoted to serving God by serving these children.
How We Care for Children
A Safe Place to Live at Our Children's Home
The children in our care live on our campus, where daily life includes regular meals, supervision, routines, and accountability. This structure provides stability for children who would otherwise be vulnerable to unsafe environments or pressure to work at a young age.
Living in the children’s home allows kids to attend school consistently, focus on learning, and grow in an environment where they are known, cared for, and guided. The home and the school function together, shaping both daily life and long-term opportunity.

Education Through Our English-Medium School
Our school exists primarily for the children living in our care. While education is technically free in India, public schools serving low-caste communities are often severely underfunded and staffed with limited resources. For years, our children attended these schools, but the quality of instruction and support was poor.

Our new school on campus represents a significant step forward. Classes are taught in English, not simply as a subject but as the language of instruction. Learning in English gives these children a far better foundation for further education and future employment than they would otherwise have.
Children living in our home and attending school on campus
The school building itself was provided through a generous gift, but the ongoing operation of the school now depends on continued support.
Teacher salaries, classroom needs, and daily expenses must be met in order for the school to function and for children to continue receiving consistent instruction.
Although government regulations do not allow Christian teaching during school hours, the children’s days begin and end with Bible reading, prayer, and devotional time as part of life in the children’s home. Education and discipleship are closely connected, even as each is carried out appropriately.
For many of these children, life would look very different without the stability of the children’s home and the opportunity to attend this school.
Feeding and Education Outreach in Slum Communities
In nearby slum communities, many children do not attend school at all. Many go days without a proper meal.
Most mornings, the kids are sent out early to search through trash heaps for something of value their families can sell. Some work in fields. Others spend their days on the streets. Education is not part of their daily routine.
When these children return in the afternoon — usually around two or three o’clock — we gather them together in the slum for a meal and informal instruction.

Children receiving meals through our program
We teach basic lessons, offer guidance, and spend time with them. For many of these kids, this is the only structured learning and consistent meal they receive.
Right now, we are able to do this about twelve days each month. If we had additional sponsors, we could increase the frequency or begin similar outreaches in other nearby slum areas.
This work is carried out through trusted local believers who know these communities well and faithfully serve the children in both word and action.
Join Us in This Work — We Need You
This ministry continues because people choose to partner with us in what we do. We believe that as more people learn about the work taking place here, God will move hearts to help it to continue and to grow.
The school depends on support for teacher salaries and ongoing operational costs, which must be covered month by month.
The children’s home requires daily food, clothing, supervision, and care.
The slum outreach can only operate as often as sponsorship allows.
Right now, there is room to do more — to maintain and strengthen the school for the children there today and for those who will follow, and to care for more children consistently.
